Building on the appointment of Martijn Dendievel as the new chief conductor, CCHA and Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen are writing a new story in 26/27: the orchestra will be anchored in the annual programming with three concerts per season, thus becoming a sustainable artistic partner. The introductions follow a new, dynamic concept, involving the conductor, soloists, and orchestra musicians. They provide not only more insight into the works being played but also into the ins and outs of the orchestra and being a musician itself. On the day of their concert in CCHA, musicians will appear in unexpected places throughout the city of Hasselt. For thirteen years, the wealthy businesswoman Nadezhda von Meck cherished a boundless admiration for Tchaikovsky. That we still know Tchaikovsky today, we owe to her patronage. The two exchanged more than 1,200 letters but decided never to meet. Ook Beethoven was initially admired from a distance in our regions. But in 1849, the Ghent composer Charles-Louis Hanssens, after years of striving, got his way: the Ninth finally premiered in Belgium under his direction. Even closer to our time, composer Max Richter enters into a creative dialogue with Beethoven in his Opus 2020, inspired by his Rondo for piano and orchestra. Soliste Elisabeth Brauß is a laureate of the TONALi Grand Prix Hamburg and the KlavierOlymp Bad Kissingen and debuted as a BBC New Generation Artist at the BBC Proms. Gramophone praises her playing for “the maturity and sophistication of her thoughtful interpretations.” program Charles-Louis Hanssens Ouverture in c Max Richter Opus 2020 Ludwig van Beethoven Rondo for piano and orchestra Pjotr Iljitsj Tsjaikovski Symfonie no. 5 conductor Martijn Dendievel / piano Elisabeth Brauß / introduction Vincent Lesage / © Felix Broede & Clara Evens elisabethbrauss.com, martijndendievel.com & symfonieorkest.be
