Visit to the Kasteel van Uitkerke followed by a BBQ Willemfonds Blankenberge invites you on July 18th for a unique visit to the Kasteeltje van Uitkerke. The owners will show us around the charming building from 1763 in Rococo style. After the visit, we will sit down for a summer BBQ in the VLC Noorderlicht. For many Blankenberge residents, the small castle remains a mystery. During this visit, you will discover the rich history of this protected monument. The first fortification was built around 1070 by the Heren van Uitkerke on a mound to provide protection against flooding. The medieval complex was completely destroyed twice over the centuries and rebuilt in 1763 in Rococo style by Emmanuel Francis van Croy, the last lord of Uitkerke.
