NENIA - REVUE BLANCHE & Katharina Smets (New date)

Sat, 24 Oct 2026 · 20:00
Concertstudio, Kortrijk
€22
How do you deal with the death of a loved one? What does it mean to continue living in the presence of absence? Is there hope in memory, in the arts, in the encounter with the other? And is every farewell really a new beginning? After the immersive Misia , the ensemble Revue Blanche is creating a new performance with audio artist Katharina Smets. Nenia – literally ‘song for the dead’ – sits between concert, radio play, and sound poem. Componist Frederik Neyrinck is writing a brand-new score tailored to this unique quintet. In doing so, he is inspired by Monteverdi’s opera L’Orfeo , about the mythical poet-singer who descends into the underworld to retrieve his beloved. Katharina Smets, the four musicians, and videographer Lise Bruyneel guide the listener through a magical-realistic world between dream and parable, darkness and light. REVUE BLANCHELore Binon – soprano Caroline Peeters – flute Kris Hellemans – viola Anouk Sturtewagen – harp Katharina Smets – audio, voice, text Frederik Neyrinck – composition Lise Bruyneel – video Katherina Lindekens – dramaturgy Jannes Dierynck – technical support Liesbet Termont - subtitles RE Antwerp – costumes Coproduction: LOD muziektheater, Klarafestival, CC De Factorij.
