George of Molière

George Dandin returns, stumbling with panache into the cruel farce of Molière, and lifts the dusty carpet of social hierarchies in the process… to better reveal its myths. Rich, certainly, but condemned to the purgatory of commoners, George has married Angélique, a young noblewoman with a haughty bearing but a heart resolutely turned toward an aristocrat much more decorative than her husband. Trapped in a marriage of appearance, despised by in-laws expert in disdain, George tries in vain to bring out the truth... and sinks with every effort.
