Dialogues for oboe and harp

Sun, 25 Oct 2026 · 11:00
Kasteel Fruithof, Boechout

This program brings together a selection of some of the most beautiful melodies for oboe and harp and takes the audience through different style periods from music history. The journey begins with a Sinfonia van Johann Sebastian Bach, a composer who has exerted an indelible influence on generations of musicians. The oboe takes a special place within his oeuvre and comes into its own in this music. Subsequently, the program leads to the romantic period with works by Johannes Brahms and Reynaldo Hahn. Ook Belgische music is given a prominent place, with the atmospheric Siciliano van Jean Absil. The virtuoso Entr’acte by Jacques Ibert then provides a sparkling contrast. The lyrical film music of Ennio Morricone and the irresistible tangos of Astor Piazzolla should not be missing from this program. This creates a colorful musical walk, from baroque and romanticism to the compelling world of film and tango music. As an oboist, Luk Callens played in many different chamber music groups and orchestras both at home and abroad. He wrote compositions for various musicians such as Anne Cambier, Sophie and Marie Hallynck, Hrayr Karaptyan, Johannes Burghoff … In Amuz in Antwerp, he is responsible for the planning and programming of the concerts every Friday afternoon. Sophie Hallynck obtained her higher diplomas for harp and chamber music with the highest distinction. At 22 years of age, she was appointed solo harpist at the Koninklijke Opera van Walloni. Afterward, she became a teacher at the Koninklijk Vlaams Conservatorium in Antwerp and at the Hoger Instituut for Music and Pedagogy in Namur, where she currently teaches harp and chamber music to future professionals.
