Mia Verbeelen tells... De Vreemdeling and the stolen time A metaphorical story about the slowly progressing process of dementia: confusion, forgetting, getting lost. 'Alzheimer's disease' becomes a strange figure in this story who regularly enters the life of an elderly woman and comes to take more and more. An old lady one day encounters ‘a strange figure’ in her house. She is startled, because she thinks it is death. After the man has disappeared, she can no longer find her keys. For fear that he will return, she hides everything that is precious. And he does return. He wants more and more from her: the time, her memories, her children… The man who gave himself away based on the picture book by the English writer Gordon Sheppard (translation Dolf Verroen) Meneer Pomeroy is a peculiar old man. When his wife suddenly dies, Pomeroy is confused and leaves the city. In the middle of nature, he decides to give away everything he has. His belongings, his clothes, even his old man's body… A story in which death approaches, but the beauty and meaning of life are palpable. coaching: Veva Gerard (Stedelijke Academie MDW - Lier)
