Award-winning documentary 'Geel' back on the big screen

Twenty years after the broadcast on Canvas and the successful screening at culture center de Werft, the documentary ‘Geel’ returns to the city where everything took place. On Sunday, September 27, the public in cinema hall Studio Geel will once again get the chance to experience this internationally awarded documentary by Arnout Hauben and Mikhaël Cops for free on the big screen. Twenty years later, this revival forms a special moment within the Dimpna Year. Arnout Hauben will briefly introduce the film and look back on the year he spent filming in Geel. After the screening, OPZ Geel will also provide an insight into the current operation of family nursing and how it evolves with the times. This screening is an initiative of Michel Vanhove and Lieve Matheussen, in collaboration with Stad Geel, Studio Geel and OPZ Geel, with thanks to Woestijnvis. The documentary was broadcast on Canvas in 2006 and re-edited into a four-part series the following year. The production also received much appreciation internationally and won, among other things, the prize for Beste Documentaire at the Seagate Foyle Festival in Great Britain. Free admission The screenings on September 27 are freely accessible to everyone. Registration is mandatory via the website of Studio Geel. A registration is valid for a maximum of two people and is confirmed by e-mail. To give as many people as possible the chance to watch the documentary, only registrations in a personal name are accepted. When the screenings are full, a waiting list will be created.
