How defining is a frame for a painting? What if you remove the artwork and only look at the frame? ‘Frames’ explores the relationship between frame and art and literally places the physical body art of Not Standing in picture frames in the open air.
Alexander Vantournhout and his three fellow performers focus on body art in its purest form. They meticulously build changing body sculptures: bodies intertwine, climb on frames, and defy gravity. As a spectator, you walk along the installations and can view everything from all sides. Perspectives tilt and physical logic disappears in this course full of physical poetry in public space.
With ‘Frames’, Vantournhout continues the location performance ‘SCREWS’. Not Standing invites you once again to trade the theater seat for an exploration of the boundaries of the body and space.
