Gilbert Bécaud, or ‘Monsieur 100 000 Volts’. In 2026, it will be 25 years since he passed away. And in 2027 he would have turned 100. If that's not a reason to celebrate his repertoire! And that repertoire is rich, strong, and timeless. ‘Nathalie’, of course! ‘Et maintenant’, but yes! ‘L’important c’est la rose’, ‘C’est en septembre’, ‘Je reviens te chercher’, ‘Quand il est mort le poète’,… Bécaud was a world star of stature with boundless energy. His passion for women, cigarettes, and whiskey was legendary. Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, The Everly Brothers, Bob Dylan, Marlene Dietrich… They were all lining up to be allowed to sing Bécaud. And now Cools & De Schepper too! Frank Cools stood as an actor and singer in almost every theater in Flanders and the Netherlands. He sang both chanson and tearjerkers, and as an actor, he shows a great preference for classical texts. He prefers to have nothing in his pockets, nothing up his sleeves, to get to the essence. Florian De Schepper is a classical guitarist. With admirable subtlety, he plays his instrument, and besides that, he can swing like no other. As a duo, Cools & De Schepper are on their second collaboration. Previously, they made the very successful ‘Aznavour’ with which they could be seen in Flanders and the Netherlands for three seasons.
