The Christmas market stretches across the entire city center. As we walk onto the Christmas market, I see why this market is so great. How beautiful it is here! Everywhere there are cozy wooden stalls against the background of the beautiful Gothic town hall of Aachen, which dates from the 14th century. The whole thing is very atmospheric. The Christmas market winds around the town hall, across the Katschhof, towards the Cathedral that lies behind it. The sight of the town hall is beautiful, but when you see the Cathedral standing there, you will be silent for a moment. What a picture! In the snow, you would have the idea that you are walking around in a Christmas movie. The cathedral was once built by order of Karel de Grote. The beautiful dome in the middle was finished around the year 800 and is breathtakingly beautiful on the inside. During the Christmas market, the Cathedral is just open and admission is free. So don't forget to visit it if you are there anyway. To take photos in the cathedral you have to pay something, but it is definitely worth it if you want photos. We are back in Groot Bijgaarden at the latest by 8 PM, as agreed with the bus company.
