Soldiers in Berlaar

War is of all times and unfortunately also very current. In 2026, soldiers are coming back to Berlaar. Fortunately, not to fight and plunder. In the expo ‘Soldaten in Berlaar’ we turn our gaze to the past. How did soldiering and warfare go in our regions? The religious wars, the Peasants' War, the lottery, the Eerste Wereldoorlog, the Tweede Wereldoorlog, the English camp, and the distribution center for spare parts pass in review in the exhibition. In a unique setup with image and sound and pleasant anecdotes, a small piece of Berlaar history comes back to life. You can visit the expo freely, but a free guided tour is also provided every hour. Practical info: The exhibition can be visited for free on September 12, 13, 19, and 20, 2026, each time from 1 pm to 5:30 pm. The expo is an initiative of vzw 't Dolhuis, with support from the municipality of Berlaar, IOED Berg en Nete, and Erfgoedcel Kempens Karakter.
