Sisters Nora and Agnes are again confronted with their absent father Gustav, once a celebrated film director. When he offers Nora, a theater actress, a role in the film that is to be his comeback, she rejects it. To her surprise, she discovers that he then gives the role to the young Hollywoodster Rachel Kemp. While the two sisters have to face their difficult relationship with their father, a foreign film star also lands in the middle of their complex family relationships.
