Quaker House

Sat, 11 Jul 2026 · 14:00
La Fonderie - Brussels museum of Work and Industry, Brussels
This sober building, with a remarkable bow-window, bears the name of its current owners: the Quaker House. However, among connoisseurs it is also known by the name of Georges Hobé, from the name of the architect who built it in 1899. During the 20th century, the Hobé house had various occupants and owners before being acquired by the Conseil Quaker for European affairs. The latter launched a major restoration campaign for the interior decorations, notably the wallpapers, which took place between 2009 and 2011. La Fonderie invites you to discover this creation by Georges Hobé, which counts among his first works as an architect. You will be accompanied by our guide, who is also the manager of this remarkable building, who followed all the restoration work from A to Z.
