Come learn the basics of how to make computer programs and how to program! In a playful way, we learn to create small games, art, and creative digital projects that we can share with friends and family. In a world full of smart technology like AI, we want to teach children not only to use that technology, but also to understand it. Together we discover what AI is good at when programming and where you cannot blindly rely on it. Whoever knows for themselves how a program is put together can deploy AI much more usefully and judge for themselves whether it is correct. They take that critical eye with them, even when they encounter AI in completely different places. We work with excellent course material from two proven platforms: code.org & Microsoft MakeCode. We bring this in guided lessons and with attention to the level of each participant. Computers are provided during the lessons. To continue practicing at home, a simple computer, tablet, or Chromebook suffices. Registration starts on June 15, 2026.
