The studio throws open its doors. See how wallpaper is printed by hand with wooden printing blocks, linocut and dominoté techniques, plank by plank. Whoever dares, prints along. With special attention to our wallpaper for the renovated Design Museum. In our studio in Sint-Maria-Latem we print wallpaper as it happened centuries ago: with wooden printing blocks and paint based on chalk and hide glue. We are the only studio in Belgium that still performs this craft and one of a handful worldwide. Op Open Monumentendag we show our three techniques: block printing, linocut on a historical printing press, and dominoté, the predecessor of wallpaper. You see how a motif is built up layer by layer, and whoever dares, may print a plank themselves. Eye-catcher of the day: the wallpaper that we remade for the renovated Design Museum Gent.
