“It surprised me how bone-dry guitars can sound so expressive. Also nice that Seb takes the time during the concerts to explain what the compositions are about, and with what intention he wrote them. That makes the instrumental music extra narrative.” - Programmator Adia
Sebastian Rochford is a groundbreaking drummer, composer, and producer and an absolute unique in the British scene. He caused a stir with his iconic band Polar Bear, won Mercury Prizenominaties, and worked with greats such as Patti Smith, Damon Albarn, and Grace Jones. Where he recently won hearts with A Short Diary - an intimate, quiet duo album with Kit Downes - he now draws from a completely different barrel.
With his new project Finding Ways, Rochford musically seeks stability after a series of drastic events in his personal life. Striking: on this first album, the guitars emphatically set the lines. Expect a fascinating wall of sound in which different guitars tumble over each other; a raw, unpolished sound full of angular grooves and a crushing emotional depth. As always, Rochford refuses to be pinned down. This is sincere, timeless music that beautifully chafes, crumbles, breathes, and lives.
