Op Allerheiligen we unite again according to annual tradition for Reveil, a heartwarming event in which remembering the deceased is central. In this thirteenth edition, we let ourselves be carried away by storytellers at the cemetery of Deerlijk. Music, as a comforting balm for the soul, fills the silence between the words. On November 1, around sunset, we create a modest and atmospheric memorial moment. With a beautiful and intimate program, we want to contribute to remembering all our loved ones in a warm, respectful and serene way.
Comforting jukebox on November 1
Begraafplaatsen Deerlijk and Saint-Lodewijk
Een jukebox, everyone still remembers it... they stood in cafés, you put a coin in and could choose your favorite song.
Last year there was also a jukebox at the cemeteries in Deerlijk and Sint-Lodewijk on November 1. The 'comforting jukebox' was an experiment that was very much appreciated. The songs brought comfort on a day that feels heavy for many.
This year, too, the volunteers of the working group Reveil Deerlijk will be at the entrance of the cemeteries. This year, too, you will be able to request a song that feels comforting to you.
We invite you now to think about which song is inextricably linked for you to the person who has passed away. Or which song evokes warm memories. Or which song from the funeral still brings you comfort now.
On November 1, we will look it up for you and walk with you to the grave to let it be heard there via a small speaker.
