Anno 1932, criminal twin brothers Smoke and Stack (both played by Michael B. Jordan) return from Chicago to their birthplace in Mississippi. The brothers buy an old sawmill with the plan to transform it into a juke joint , a bar for African Americans where they can dance, gamble, and drink.
