Milkweed develops a singular universe that they themselves describe as slacker-trad, at the crossroads of traditional folk and sound experimentation. Based on folkloric tales, Welsh myths, ancient texts, or translations of Celtic epics, the duo deconstructs and recomposes the written material to turn it into strange and fascinating songs.
Their music draws as much from British folk traditions as from those of the American East Coast, while letting even older influences emerge, stemming from history, archaeology, and prehistoric imaginaries. Between lo-fi recordings, sound collages, and ghostly melodies, Milkweed creates forms that seem both familiar and displaced.
Somewhere between haunted folk and hauntological experimentation, their work explores the echoes of the past in the present, bringing forth soundscapes where collective memory, myth, and contemporaneity merge.
