Autumn on the Withoefse heide!

De Withoefse Heide is, contrary to what the name suggests, mainly a forest area. Nevertheless, heath also occurs locally, interspersed with fens and pioneer zones that form the transition between heath and forest. This beautiful piece of nature owes its name to a farm that was the last farm (around 1780) to be established in this region by the abbey of Tongerlo " the Withoef" . There are two versions explaining this name: · a white-painted farm · the farm that was established by the Witheren van Tongerlo (fathers of the order of the Norbertines with a white habit) Would you like to know more… everyone is welcome again! This beautiful varied walk lasts +/- 2 hours, participation is free and registration is not necessary. Definitely worth it!
