Literary evening: Françoise Houdart

Gabriel, the Virgin and the Thieves, the twenty-sixth opus by writer Françoise Houdart, is the account of a very singular investigation concerning the thefts perpetrated in the church of Saint-Géry de Boussu regarding the Altarpiece of the Life of the Virgin, a Late Gothic work attributed to the sculptor P. Borman, and most especially the theft of the twelve statuettes housed in the predella of the altarpiece on the night of November 14, 1914. The narration of the authentic facts making up this story is coupled with revelations related to the investigation led by Gabriel, the Angel of the Altarpiece, and discreetly entrusted to the author. However, she could not resist the temptation to indulge in a bit of fantasy, humor, a touch of impertinence, and a few imaginary digressions from the strict historical truth of an intrigue that mobilized human and judicial resources for over a century. Published by Editions Audace/Roulotte Théâtrale, Gabriel, la Vierge et les voleurs will be presented by Françoise Houdart, under the guidance of Renild Thiébaut, and illustrated by readings from Anne Lépine and Véronique Dubois, a powerhouse quartet!
