Via the banks of the Leie, we head towards the historic heart of the City of the Golden Spurs. Kortrijk Weide is a new city district buzzing with young entrepreneurship. We follow the river further upstream. On the square in front of Texture, museum of flax and textile, the crop that is so important for South-West Flanders is blooming. The iconic Broel Towers were part of the medieval city walls. In the Church of Our Lady, we relive 1302 Uprising, battle, turning point . We take our seats in the Count's Chapel, where we see the past come to life on the large windows. The clashing of weapons sounds just real. We discover the historic site around the new museum Abby, where heritage and future meet. After a wonderful rest break on one of the atmospheric squares, we set course for home.
