Carillon concert: Tommy van Doorn

During this concert, various works will be covered: both transcriptions of classical music and beautiful virtuoso carillon compositions by some Dutch composers. With a 'The Second Waltz' arrangement, Tommy van Doorn concludes. This concert is preceded by an organ recital from 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM. In this opening program, the organ shows all its possibilities through Tommy's organ playing: from an imposing Prelude, a quiet Bach chorale to the scherzo with rooster cackling! Tommy is the organist of the St. Peter's Basilica in Boxtel, city carillonneur of Tilburg, and carillonneur of Boxtel, Geldrop, Schijndel, Son, Valkenswaard, and Waalre. He works as a principal subject teacher for carillon at the Utrechts Conservatorium and thus teaches at the HKU Nederlandse Beiaardschool in Amersfoort. He studied organ as a major and piano as a minor at the Fontys Conservatorium in Tilburg. In 2020, he obtained both his master's degree in carillon at the HKU Nederlandse Beiaardschool in Amersfoort and his master's degree in musicology at the Universiteit Utrecht. He has contributed to radio and TV broadcasts. He is currently working on an extensive project regarding organ music in connection with the Eerste Wereldoorlog.
