For twenty-five years, Camerata Aetas Nova has been seeking the tension between tradition and innovation, between familiar sounds and new voices. With this anniversary concert, we bring both a nostalgic look back and a lively portrait of who we have become: a choir that has been searching, daring, and growing with enthusiasm for a quarter of a century. Flemish works that helped shape our sound are being dusted off, supplemented with international music that has colored our repertoire over the years. We are reprising pieces from various highlights of our existence, including from our own Camerata Aetas Nova series at publisher Euprint, from the programs of Choir of the Year (2008), international choir competitions in Tours and Mosbach (2014), and the CD recording of Songs for the Sleepless (2010). Composers who know the choir inside and out are, of course, also given an honorable place. Alex Deckmyn, Michiel Verfaillie, and Sybrand Maertens sing or have sung in our choir and have written music especially for us several times, which is close to our hearts. Van Sybrand Maertens we bring the new work Breath , created especially for this anniversary. In addition, we also commemorate Jos Stroobants (1948-2025), a Leuven poet who contributed for years as artistic director to the thinking and doing (and sometimes remarkable choreographies) of the choir. His beautiful texts that have been set to music several times should, of course, not be missing. Celebrate with us with beautiful music, followed by a festive reception! (A drink is included in the ticket price) This concert is conducted by Dieter Staelens, accompanied on piano by Koenraad Sterckx, and is made possible with the support of the city of Leuven and publisher Euprint.
