Au bas du Square Marie Louise, à côté de la statue de La Cigale, Brussels
Discover the hidden treasures of the city, surprising facades, stunning details that make Art Nouveau a jewel of Brussels heritage.
WHAT WILL YOU DISCOVER?
The tour “Art Nouveau in the Squares district” takes you to the heart of the Marie Louise and Ambiorix squares, as well as in the adjacent streets and highlights numerous houses. Let yourself be told the History of the North-East district through the prism of architecture and urban planning. You will thus get to know architects, known and less known, who have marked this district.
On the program of the walk, among others...
– The Hôtel Deprez – Van de Velde, by Victor Horta
– The Hôtel Van Eetevelde, by Victor Horta
– The house of the painter Georges Léonard de Saint-Cyr, by Gustave Strauven
– La Maison Van Dijk, by Gustave Strauven
– Other works by Van Waesberghe, Victor Taelemans, Georges Hobé, and many others
– But also many small stories and anecdotes!
We will not go inside the houses and hotels (often inhabited), but photographic supports are provided to allow you to better realize the interior of the buildings. Because Art Nouveau is a “Art Total” that certainly does not stop at the facades!
