‘Cocon’ The new Ertebrekers has arrived ‘Where are those pesky Ertebrekers hanging out?’ You heard it – if you listened carefully – whispering among fans. With the underlying somewhat anxious sentiment: they haven't split up, have they? Well, not at all. They are still alive and came out of their hibernation as fiery butterflies, with a new record. Almost ten years ago, Ertebrekers unleashed ‘Otel’ on humanity – with the well-known singles ‘De Zji’ & ‘Eva Mendes‘ they nested themselves in a niche where they were king immediately – to continue that story nicely three years later – with ‘Crème’. And now they are here again. With that difference: Peter Lesage and Jeffrey Bearelle continue as a duo, without Flip Kowlier, who is walking other paths but can still be heard on two tracks. Fans of the first hour can sleep soundly. Ertebrekers may have slimmed down to a duo, but also shows on the new record ‘Cocon’ that they tap greedily and with full surrender from different barrels of musical manna. Sometimes with a clear disco vibe and then again with a deep-soul approach, but above all with a clear Ertebrekers style. They are back. Phew.
