Official opening Gansbroek

Natuurpunt Brussel cordially invites you to a special moment: the official opening of our very first nature reserve, the Gansbroek , on June 13, 2026! Indeed, last year we were able to secure a valuable piece of greenery for the future—a place where nature is once again given every opportunity. After a public poll, the area was named Gansbroek: a nod to Ganshoren, where the reserve is located, and to the historical “Broekzele”—the marshy Brussels of yesteryear. That name fits perfectly, because in the area you will find a true swamp forest, a rare and lively piece of wet nature. We start at 1:30 PM with a welcome at youth center ‘t Tongeluk. We will provide coffee/tea and some pastries. Afterwards, several prominent voices from Natuurpunt and politics will share their vision for this project. Then you can join us for exploration during fascinating nature tours in and around the nature reserve. Everyone is welcome to experience this festive and hopeful moment.
