Wim Mertens solo

Wim Mertens began making music in 1980, after working as a musicologist and radio maker. His first release ‘For Amusement Only’ is a music recording that consists only of the sound of pinball machines. This album was followed by ‘At Home-Not at Home’ (1981), ‘Vergessen’ (1982), ‘Struggle for Pleasure’ (1983), and ‘Maximizing the Audience’ in 1984. Over the past 40 years, he has developed his musical language into a normative vocabulary by writing for various ensembles. He also composed for voice and for symphony orchestra. Today, Mertens has more than 70 CDs to his name, the music of which he regularly performs live throughout Europe, North and Centraal Amerika, Japan, Thailand, and Russia. Mertens reveals his immersive new album ‘As Water is to Fish’, a work of delicate beauty and emotional depth that will continue to resonate for a long time. (c) Giorgia Pagano
