July 11 celebration: Johan Kalifa

Johan Kalifa is coming to give us a fantastic performance for the Flemish holiday!  He will perform Dutch-language songs by legendary cabaret artists!  Johan Kalifa studied musical theater at the conservatory in Brussels and immediately started at the arts workshop Sering. There, he performed a number of shows between 2008 and 2010, such as 'Kulibali' and ‘Uitgeperst’. Between 2010 and 2011, Johan Kalifa performed the production ‘SWCHWURM' at Het Toneelhuis under the direction of Guy Cassiers. After that, he became a founding member and general leader of the Nieuw Muziektheater Brasschaat, which brought various performances to Flanders from 2012 to 2014. When the VTM series ‘De Buurtpolitie’ came his way, he became known to the general public in 2015 as inspector Obi Basu. After ‘De Buurtpolitie', Johan Kalifa also acted in theater productions such as ‘Once upon a time, the fairy tale concert’ and ‘Fierce’. Currently, Johan Kalifa focuses mainly on his singing performances with a live pianist and is a teacher of Dutch with theater techniques for non-native newcomers.
