Summer walk with a visit to the Waterkuil in Vechmaal

Natuurpunt invites everyone for a summer walk in Vechmaal. Under the guidance of a guide, we explore the surroundings of the Waterkuil, one of the eight tunnel systems of the marl quarries of Vechmaal. Along the way, we learn more about the origin of these special underground quarries, their historical significance and some stories connected to them. In addition, we pay attention to the nature management plan that helps protect the valuable fauna and flora in and around the quarries. We also visit the field and the small forest that was planted last year, where we explain how these initiatives contribute to more biodiversity in the landscape. After the walk, we conclude pleasantly with an ice cream at Hoeve Picard.
