GALA CONCERT The King’s Singers
opening act Kamerkoor Furiant conducted by Steve De Veirman
Het the most renowned international vocal ensemble in the world is coming to the Ghent cathedral and will provide you with an evening full of beauty and surprising harmony. In the opening act you will hear the Kamerkoor Furiant.
With this eclectic, enchanting and evocative program, The King’s Singers take us to all corners of the world along some of the many musical styles and sound worlds they have encountered during their world travels. From haunting Scottish Renaissance polyphony to crystal-clear 20th-century Baltic minimalism. We hear stories and folk songs from different centuries, mixed with iconic jazz standards and, of course, the typical close harmony favorites that the audience has come to love so much over the past six decades.
Along the way there are well-known favorites, but also plenty of new and fascinating sounds to discover. Zoals Shakespeare put it: ‘Sounds and sweet airs that give delight and hurt not’.
The King’s Singers have been the gold standard in a cappella singing on the world’s biggest stages for more than 55 years. Their unparalleled technique, musicality and versatility have led to numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, a Emmy Award and a place in the first Hall of Fame of Gramophone magazine.
