KVS resident artist Alesandra Seutin presents “Ceci n’est pas Noire: Act II,” a performance that approaches the body as a space of echoes and cultural resonance, in which ideas about identity and belonging are in constant flux. What does it mean to have both white European and Black South African roots? For Alesandra Seutin, recently nominated for an Oliver Award for her previous production Mimi’s Shebeen, it is a constant negotiation between intimacy and exposure, vulnerability and projection. Ceci n’est pas Noire: Act II is about embracing inner tensions while discovering your own truth. Gestures, vocals, and live sounds intertwine, evoking memories, traversing geographical and personal landscapes, and revealing the layered complexity of a hybrid identity.
