A man drags his companion with him like a rag doll. Seventy kilos of body, tied to him. Sometimes he uses him as support, sometimes as a burden, sometimes as company that no longer wants to go along. In 'It really hurts when your head hits the concrete', DeRonde/Deroo make a physical and absurd location performance about what people carry with them. Without text, but with acrobatics, surreal images, and a logic that constantly tilts. About the company DeRonde/Deroo is a Dutch-Belgian collective of Tom de Ronde (NL) and Nick Deroo (BE). Both studied at the Mime Opleiding of the Amsterdamse Hogeschool for the Arts, where they discovered their shared love for immersive, cinematic theater. The collective creates dream worlds with its own rules and surreal moments. As a spectator, you step into a universe that is simultaneously strange, physical, and recognizable. Their performances are often described as visually overwhelming poems. 'It really hurts when your head hits the concrete' is their third performance. The performance won, among other things, the audience award of the Café Theater Festival in Arnhem, the Spoffin OFF Audience Award in 2024, and the Wim Barry Stipendium for young talent of Het Cultuurfonds in Amsterdam in 2025.
