A
captivating game performance about grief and healing
PART 1
Plum
Road Tea Dream_The Performance is a captivating and unique performance where
live gaming and theatre converge. Artist Samuel Baidoo created an
autobiographical video game for this piece: a series of virtual spaces that
offer an escape from the outside world, while also providing room to reflect on
violence in reality. How can a video game help us relate to our daily reality?
Baidoo
does this in an unparalleled way. Through their avatar 'S', they offer access
to a series of 'sanctuaries': safe havens where players can slow down and get
lost. Every evening, Baidoo invites a different guest player to explore the
game live on stage. Guided by a host, a conversation unfolds about the various
layers the game touches upon within the guest. While Baidoo prepares tea and
intervenes from time to time, a performance of profound depth emerges.
Plum
Road Tea Dream was nominated for the Nuovo Award at the 2026 Independent
Games Festival Awards, an international recognition for experimental and
innovative games.
