In sixteenth-century England, the plague strikes mercilessly. Will and his wife Agnes lead a warm family life with their three children, until fate strikes them and their son Hamnet dies. The direction is in the hands of Gouden Leeuw- and Oscar winner Chloé Zhao, known for ‘Nomadland’, with which she won three Oscars.
