Yoka Mbonda – Percussion from the Congo River
With Yoka Mbonda, Congolese multi-instrumentalist Tister Ikomo invites you on an imaginary journey along the majestic Congo River. Traditional songs, percussion and magnetic rhythms echo the river’s power and the rich cultures found along its banks.
Also a dancer, choreographer and stage director, Tister Ikomo brings together languages, syncopated rhythms and exhilarating dances. Joined by five percussionists, he creates a vibrant performance in which music is felt as deeply as it is heard.
His artistic journey includes collaborations with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui on Vlaemsch (Chez moi) and Mea Culpa, as well as the international tour of Coup Fatal by Alain Platel and Fabrizio Cassol.
