Close your eyes and let yourself be enchanted by Hypnos, the mythological god of sleep. Throughout the centuries, writers, painters, and composers have been inspired by the mysterious world of slumber in which mortals disappear at night only to awaken again at dawn. Baroque composers such as Johannes H. Kapsberger, John Dowland, Etienne Moulinié and Constantijn Huygens were also inspired by the night, sleep, and dreams for their songs and instrumental music. Zefiro Torna pours a mind-altering brew of slumbering thoughts, lonely sorrow, secret fantasies, and soothing whispers. The brilliant voice of Lore Binon and the delicate sounds of Jurgen De bruyns theorbo and lute open the gates to a hallucinatory dream world, where tenderness and cruelty meet. The ensemble Zefiro Torna has been known since 1996 for its innovative concepts and the original way in which it brings the medieval, renaissance, and baroque repertoire to life for a wide audience. In Ssssomnia they combine their characteristic musicality with a hypnotic, almost cinematic atmosphere.
