A penetrating solo that makes difficult father-son relationships open for discussion. Compelling – confronting – absurd – disarming – societal Geen Kafka is a penetrating solo performance with live music about the vulnerable dynamic between a father and a son, inspired by Franz Kafka’s Letter to His Father. Kafka wrote the letter in an attempt to reach his father and put into words what he did not dare to speak out: his fear, his feeling of falling short, his conviction that he was not a “real Kafka”. A century later, that relationship is re-examined through the lens of today, in a time in which masculinity, leadership and the role of men - fathers - in upbringing are strongly up for discussion. The result is Geen Kafka: not a literal Kafka adaptation, but a current, universal confrontation in which the father figure could just as well be yours. Collectief Verlof is known for converting difficult themes into energetic, absurd and musical performances that make the vulnerable accessible. Credits  Tekst and acting: Bart van der Heijden  Livemuziek: Lucas Heytens  Eindregie: Mokhallad Rasem  Tekstcoaching: Ellis Meeusen  Dramaturgie: Peter Anthonissen, Winter De Cock and Peggy Poppe  Scenografie: Erki De Vries  Met the support of Perpodium and the Tax Shelter of the Belgian federal government, HET LAB, fABULEUS and Stad Leuven
