Already in the Middle Ages, the valleys of the Breeven were of great importance for livestock farming. Marsh forests were cleared and transformed into fertile meadows, while the 'eersels' and marshes were mowed in the summer to feed the cattle in the winter. In the summer months, the cattle also grazed on these 'eersels'. Do you want to discover how our ancestors did all this? Then walk along with the guide through the beautiful Breeven and dive into ancient traditions and stories.
