For MiXMONK, this milestone is the ideal opportunity to head back to the studio and dive deep into the timeless work of Coltrane, whose musical influence has resonated for generations. What began as an ode to Thelonious Monk evolved into a dynamic and lasting collaboration between two figureheads of the Belgian jazz scene and an iconic American jazz drummer. Their first two albums, MiXMONK and On The Loose, combined original compositions with bold interpretations of Monk's music and were met with acclaim. The new album will feature original compositions as well as work by Monk and Coltrane, seen through the lens of three adventurous minds with a distinct vision. Furthermore, MiXMONK will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2027. An ideal moment to release a new album and set up an international tour.
