Visit to the Freemasonry Museum and 1 temple

Did you know that there is a real museum of Freemasonry located near the BOp on Lakensestraat? Unique in Belgium. Freemasonry in Belgium has its roots in the early 18th century and played a decisive role during several key moments in our country's history, including independence in 1830. The history of the museum began in 1833 when Théodore Verhaegen, founder of the then still monolingual Franse Université Libre de Bruxelles (yes, the one from St-Vé), founded a first museum in his Lodge ‘Les Amis Philanthropes’. In 1984, an independent museum was founded, which has been housed since 2009 in the listed Hôtel Dewez, which connects to the lodge of the Grootoosten van Belgi on Lakensestraat. The museum is open to the general public and testifies to the historical development, practices, and values of Belgian and international Freemasonry. Through documents, books, paintings, sculptures, and all kinds of objects, a fascinating world opens up to you. In addition to the museum collection, we will also visit one of the seven temples of the lodge. A unique experience. On Friday, June 12 at 1:30 PM at the BOp.
