Sparkling concert 'Midsummer Sounds'

Entirely in the tradition of the Pius Choir summer matinee concerts, the choir is launching 'Midsummer Sounds'. On June 21, the Begijnhofkerk will become a special musical party location. Exactly at midsummer, we will fill this beautiful church with the most beautiful summer sounds. For the first time under the direction of our new top conductor Simon De Paepe, who is taking the Pius Choir to a higher level. The beauty of summer nature is the common thread throughout the program. Count on choral highlights from the Romantic period. Felix Mendelssohn-Bartoldy and Camille Saint-Saëns let us sing about the flowers, the trees and forests, the peace of the night, and the song of the nightingale. Met Lauridsen we make a jump to the twentieth century, and with Orlandus Lassus, our 16th-century Belgian pride is on the program. He is, by the way, accompanied by the unpraised August de Boeck. In between, star pianist Olivier Thienpont treats us to fine piano work. In short: the splendor of summer will sound cheerfully in all shades. Hopefully, the sun will join in, so that we can clink glasses together in the beguinage garden for a sparkling midsummer moment!
