With ‘Ik denk dat het ouder heet’ (I think it's called parent), the collective modderspot creates a theatrical performance about parenthood. In this absurdist world, five characters join together in their imagination to search for the ‘ideal’ parent. Geert-Jan, Pino, Jacques, Josse, and Gerritje seek parental intimacy and authority in each other and in themselves. They reflect, protest, fantasize, idealize, and question what 'parent' entails. Gradually, they discover how they themselves have become a parent - for themselves, for each other, even for their own parents. They fill the void and find parenthood in unexpected things: in the light, in the dog, or the dust blowing up from the vacuum cleaner. A performance like a safety net and a place of comfort for everyone who grows up (or grew up) without a parental figure.
