Een Kopje ZEN - Moon festival

The arboretum Hof ter Saksen has an exceptional collection of Asian trees and plants. To match this, a tea pavilion accessible to everyone was provided in 2007 with a view of one of the most beautiful borders in the park. Such a tea pavilion is something special. To put that and the Asian collection more in the spotlight, Dienst Toerisme organizes ‘Een Kopje Zen’ in Hof ter Saksen three times a year. It always couples a guided walk - where a selection is made from that beautiful offer - with an introduction to the Chinese Gong-fu tea ceremony. Het Midherfst- or Moon Festival, which is originally a harvest festival, is celebrated in China with as much exuberance as Chinees Nieuwjaar. An autumn walk by the light of the full moon is a unique opportunity to get to know the Asian collection of the park. At this party, the Chinese ‘mooncakes’ should not be missing. They fit perfectly with fermented ‘dark’ tea pressed into shape, which is highly sought after. Because not everyone is equally crazy about that, we provide plenty of alternative teas.
