Musica Divina 2026: Eric Whitacre & Flemish Radio Choir The Sacred Veil

The Sacred Veil is a twelve-part work by poet Charles Anthony Silvestri and composer Eric Whitacre. Silvestri’s wife, Julie, died in 2005 at the age of 36 from ovarian cancer and left behind two young children. With texts by Silvestri, Whitacre, and Julie herself, the intimate and poignant score tells the story of playful courtship, love, and ultimately loss and the search for comfort. Although the work is inspired by that exceptional and moving friendship, Julie is not mentioned by name and it paints a deeply human picture of that which everyone has to deal with sooner or later.
