In 1811, Mary Anning, a curious and brave girl of 12, searches every day between the rocks for fossils. But one day Mary's father disappears, and the only thing he leaves behind is a mysterious drawing… In search of the truth behind the drawing, Mary discovers much more than just old bones: she experiences exciting adventures, makes new friendships, and discovers a whole new way to look at the world. She learns about something that will later be called ‘paleontology’ or the science of the life of long, long ago.
