Autumn is the season of bird migration. Thousands of birds migrate through our country during this period on their way to their wintering grounds in Southern Europe and Africa. Het Hageven is an important stopover for many species.
During this morning walk, bird expert Patrick Schuurmans will take you on a discovery through the Hageven. Along the way, we look and listen for birds that are preparing for their long journey to the south or are stopping here for a while to rest and search for food.
We will search together for migrating songbirds, waders, waterbirds, and with some luck, birds of prey as well. Patrick explains how to recognize birds by their flight, call, and behavior and provides an insight into one of the most impressive natural phenomena of the year.
Whether you are a beginning birder or have been out with binoculars more often, this walk offers a great opportunity to experience the autumn migration up close.
Sturdy shoes are recommended and bring binoculars if possible.
