Jazz in the Abbey on Friday – Stef Kamil Carlens & The Poem

On the Friday of the fourth edition of ‘Jazz in the Abbey’, the inimitable Stef Kamil Carlens & The Poem will be on stage in the beautiful setting of the Sint-Bernardus Abbey. With THE POEM, Stef Kamil Carlens brings a unique musical experience. In this concert, they rework their own songs and gems from the rich singer-songwriter tradition, where poetry, literature, and music seamlessly merge. Vocal harmony is central, with Stef Kamil Carlens's recognizable husky tenor, Nel Ponsaers's velvet-soft alto, and Rahmat Emonds's soulful soprano. The music of THE POEM is minimalist, pure, and sensitive, but full of adventure. Each of the three musicians also steps forward solo, which brings each song to life from its own perspective. With a wide selection of special instruments - from guitars and basses to analog synths and even an automated snare drum - they create an immersive, intimate atmosphere. After his successful tour with the energetic band THE SWOON in 2024, in which he impressed with funky grooves and colorful live shows, SKC is ready again in 2025 to push the boundaries of the singer-songwriter genre. In September 2025, the new studio album was released by Starman Records. Jazz in the Abbey has both standing and seating. Chairs are available, the choice is entirely yours. There are no food stands provided on Friday. Sandwiches with cheese are available at the bar. There are separate tickets for Friday (Stef Kamil Carlens & The Poem) and Saturday (day ticket for the 3 performances with Bert Joris Quaret, An Pierlé Duo and Unfinished Business) of Jazz in the Abbey.
