Carillon / Kayla Gunderson - Wicked

Kayla Gunderson takes you on a journey through picturesque and enchanting music that sounds soft and sweet at times, cheerful or contemporary at others, but always remains refreshingly beautiful. The program combines original carillon music with songs from the film Wicked. Kayla Gunderson comes from Seattle. She first became acquainted with the carillon at the University of Rochester, where she later also taught several students. In 2022, she spent four months in Stockholm, where she regularly played the carillon in Gamla Stan, the oldest district of the city. In 2023, she obtained her bachelor's degrees in Amerikaanse Gebarentaal and Brain and Cognitive Sciences. After graduating, she continued her studies at the Koninklijke Beiaardschool Jef Denyn in Mechelen. Today she lives in Chicago, where she works as an American Sign Language/English interpreter. In addition, Kayla is a member of the Committee for Professionalism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Nominating Committee of the Guild of Carillonneurs of North America. In her spare time, she enjoys knitting, hiking, and spending time at Lake Michigan. Listening spot: church square and surroundings Tip! After the concert, you can visit the church tower and carillon.
