Barak: The duo - From shaft to stage - aperitif concert

Baracks. Once they were the simple homes where foreign miners lived together in the mining region of Maasmechelen. Behind those wooden walls hid countless stories: memories of home, new friendships, homesickness, hope, and hard labor. Met Barak: the duo brings saxophonist Gregory Ksiondzyk and percussionist Pieter Vincken in a musical program that brings these stories back to life. Starting from stories and poems from the mining region, an atmospheric dialogue arises between saxophone and percussion. Woordkunstenaar Nathalie Conaert weaves the music with text and takes the audience through memories, images, and voices from the past. In this way, Barak becomes a place where music, word, and history meet — a contemporary echo of the barracks where so many cultures and stories once came together. Welcome to our Barak!
